Part 1 : Whirlpool · Crazy Production
As major mobile phone manufacturers increasingly focus on “exploring” the imaging capabilities and beautification functions of mobile phone photography, “photography” has reduced to a selling point of artistic stunts. What accompanies is not only a turbulent sea of images, but also the binding, control, and even degradation brought by technology and algorithms, among which mobile advertising is a hypnotism of induction, calling us into the whirlpool of image production. This part consists of images and experimental sounds. In the process of image creation, I found the global ranking of mobile phone photography performance through DXOMARK, a famous website for evaluating digital devices, and selected the new mobile phone posters and video advertisements of ten manufacturers specializing in mobile photography as the creation materials. The specific production process is as follows:
1.In the sound section, I conducted parallel configuration for the audio of all the mobile ads I collected and played them at the same time, making the narration of each track cancel each other out to produce a ghostly whistle.
2.Export the audio about mobile phone photography performance in the video advertisements of each mobile phone manufacturer and translate it into visual noise images.
3.Combine the two and create a series of “new posters” with no persuasive advertising content.
4.In the sound section, I conducted parallel configuration for the audio of all the mobile ads I collected and played them at the same time, making the narration of each track cancel each other out to produce a ghostly whistle.
